Elizabeth Roundy — Missing Children

Active Legal Proceedings · FLDS · Child Missing Since January 1, 2023

Elizabeth Roundy left the FLDS Church in 2014 and moved to Idaho with her daughter, Elintra. Her husband — who had himself been expelled from the FLDS in 2012 — remained a follower of the faith. On January 1, 2023, Elintra took her mother’s car and drove away in the middle of the night. Roundy held full legal custody. As of April 2023, Elintra had been missing for over 170 days.

What the Case Involves

“I am positive that FLDS are hiding Elintra,” Roundy has said. She believes her daughter was given specific instructions about where to go and that the disappearance was orchestrated by FLDS members seeking to please Warren Jeffs’ leadership from prison. “She was told what to do, where to go. It has been a completely manipulated situation,” she told KSL News.

Police initially classified the case as a runaway situation. Attorney Roger Hoole, representing Roundy and other parents, has argued that what these families are experiencing is not a custody dispute but child trafficking — children taken and hidden by a religious organization operating in defiance of court orders.
